Welcome to Mt. Vernon

Aren't those tulips awesome?! You should have seen them in real life, they completely blew me away!

The Garden...

Where do you go to check out a beautiful garden in spring? Why not the Washington's place? When you have an annual pass to Mt. Vernon you have the luxury of going just to take pictures of the garden :) And that's what Drew & I did (don't worry Drew was a good sport about it), plus it was fun to laugh at all the tourists waiting in line for the house tour! And if you think there are too many garden pictures, you should see how many I didn't put in, and then ask my mom if there are too many :) At any rate we finished off our picture taking fun by riding our bikes along a path that runs from Mt. Vernon to Georgetown along the Potomac River, something I've wanted to do for years--and it was everything I'd hoped it would be!

Happy Easter!

On our way into church Easter morning, Drew & I stopped off near the Iwo Jima Memorial, to check out the tulips at the Netherlands Carillon (gift from the Dutch to thank us for helping them out of WWII) As you can see they did not disappoint! And it's a perfect view down the hill, across the Potomac to the District. (Sorry the carillon picture isn't the best, it was a bit of an afterthought - I was there for the tulips, not the carillon :))

National Arboretum

After church, and before Easter dinner, Drew & I took a quick trip to NE in DC to check out the arboretum. I've always wanted to see the old Capitol columns after seeing so many pictures, and was very pleased with myself for finding them! There are many different types of gardens there as well, but you do have to be willing to drive thru the part of DC you here about on the news to get there :)

Washington D.C. in Spring

And don't forget the people pictures!

The tourists didn't find all of the cherry trees....

Cherry blossoms aren't the only show in town..

And average DC street corner...
Magnolias...
I hope you know what this building is...

Cherry Blossoms - Tidal Basin

Unfortunately tourists come hand and hand with the blossoms. You must be willing to fight the crowds to see the amazing trees...thankfully the beautiful pictures live on, and the frustration fades away. (FYI this is the Jefferson Memorial)

You asked for blossoms, and we've got blossoms! It's even 'snowing' blossoms in this picture.
