What a difference a day makes!

To remember the warmer times...

As I sit here with a scarf and wool coat typing...yes I'm inside, but I think I forgot to turn the heat up when I got home from work, maybe I should remedy that problem :) Anyway, I told you I'd fill you in on what you've missed since March 2007--yikes! So here are a couple pictures from our Oahu trip in July '07 --beside the Germany trip, this is the only other time I saw Drew during his year in Iraq. Anyway I thought I'd pick some "warm" pictures to give us all hope of a spring to come!

I need to go to Hawaii again just so I can wear those cute dresses! For some reason they aren't as much fun in the Shenandoah Valley! :)

It's changing every day...

This is for Drew...we had to have our garage floor engineered, and for $500 they told us to pour gravel, put in rebar then pour the cement...I wonder if I could have thought of that? Either way I know Drew would want to see the engineering before they poured the cement.

Again for Drew, here are the Roof Trusses all ready to go on the house tomorrow. Unfortunately I have to work, so I won't have the cool crane pictures. Sorry!

This is the upstairs, I decided not to risk life and limb to get a better picture. I climbed the ladder to the second floor, only to discover I'd have to climb over the top of the ladder to nothing, swing across an open abyss and hopefully make it to the 2nd floor by pulling myself through the studs...and if I managed to do that, how would I get down? With no one else at the site, I erred on the side of caution. I didn't want anyone finding my frozen (20 degrees and dropping) contorted body the next morning. :)

Ahh. the front of the house, don't worry there is a window above the front door (for you architecture critics...everyone in my family :) ) they just didn't cut out the Tyvec. Also the garage and porch is to come.

So I'm keeping this up to date...I hope you appreciate this! :) My fingers are still cold from this photo op...apparently leather gloves weren't met for below freezing tempteratures and an extended period of time!

Starting at the beginning...

Some of you know that Drew and I are expectant homeowner's, but some of you are wondering what's up with this house stuff? So I'll start at the beginning...back in July of last year Drew and I got word that a lot in Harrisonburg we'd been thinking about was going up for auction - unfortunately it was while we'd be in Oregon. That didn't stop us! We just got on the phone and had a realtor bid by-proxy while we were sitting at a lovely park on the way to Crater Lake...isn't that how everyone buys land?

And then there were floor joists..

That's me in the "crawl space" - as you can see no crawling will be neccessary. I might even be willing to venture under this house!

Fast forward to November 20...we start digging out! $10,000 later we had a hole to build a house in and a driveway cut into our cliff of a lot! :)

Here we are as the proud new owners of Lot 3, Stone Spring Estates Phase II.

If wonder's never cease...

So it's been over a year since my last post, what can I say? I'm sorry! Due to constant demands - mostly from my mother - I'm back. Now realize, it's a little overwhelming to just jump in after so many months, but I'll do my best. I'll keep you up-to-date on current events, and try and fill in what you missed from before. Now you can do your part to keep me going...by commenting! :)

Ok, you want pictures? You can't get more current than this...I just took these pictures of the house this morning, don't let the beautiful blue sky fool you...it was 15 degrees and felt it! I took 3 pictures, and said good enough, I'm going back to my nice warm car!
