Last Night Together

Watching the sun set on our last evening in Florida.

Tybee Island, GA

Just outside of Savannah is Tybee Island. We took a quick tour of the cute little island...the area is full of Revolutionary and Civil War History, this lighthouse was originally built in 1736, rebuilt in 1742 after a storm damaged it, then again in 1773, and then again in 1869 after being damaged in the Civil War. The Island was also a hideout for pirates back in the day...I thought I saw Capt. Jack Sparrow while we were there.

Welcome to Savannah, Georgia

We stopped in Savannah on the way down and back up from Florida. Historic Savannah is charming with wonderful architecture, cobblestone, history and Spanish Moss (I was mocked for my excitement at seeing Spanish moss, but it is beautiful hanging from the wonderful old trees) Above are pictures of the River Street walk, the fountain in Forsythe Park and the City Hall.

Just one of they many beautiful houses I was expecting and hoping for when we got to Savannah, and I wasn't disappointed, there were many.

Forrest Gump? Ok, it's Drew, but in Forsythe Park where the "bench scenes" were filmed, apparently they took "thee" bench out, but a bench is a bench right?

Girls weekend to DC!

Since our husbands were supposed to have been gone overseas, a girls weekend to DC was planned months ago for Memorial Day Weekend, but then--as usual--schedules changed and our husbands were still home, so we decided to go anyway :) Don't worry Andrew & Isaac (Rachel's husband) went on a backpacking trip into the George Washington Nat'l. Forest, so while they were sleeping on the ground listening to drunk hillbillies do the rebel yell (yeah not joking :)), we were staying at the Hyatt across from Georgetown -- hee hee.


Above are pictures inside the Library of Congress, believe it or not it was my first time inside. And boy have I been missing out! It is beautiful, plus we saw 1 of only 3 existing Gutenberg Bibles! And to think the trip inside all began with the need for a restroom! By the way, the most amazing public restrooms I have ever seen..they were marble and had crown moudling...this is important information if you're ever touring DC!

Why don't my hydrangeas look like that? Apparently the National Botanical Garden has something I don't have...is it the full time staff or the year round greenhouse? Hmm...
